County sets Fair Board election date

Kingfisher County Commissioners called an election for the county fair board Monday at their weekly meeting.The election will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the courthouse lobby in Kingfisher.Three board members’ terms are up this year, one from each commissioner district.

Ad valorem payments slow coming in ; due at end of year

Only a small amount of the county’s $47,125,305 ad valorem tax bill had been paid through Thursday, County Treasurer Robin Rother reports.A total of $4,531 has been received at the county treasurer’s office since tax rolls opened for payment in mid-November.

THE APRON ANNIES HCE group (and husbands) celebrated its annual Christmas party at the Center of Family Love for residents and staff. Santa, with his favorite reindeer and elf, gave out refreshments and Christmas gifts while Christmas carols were sung.

Chief justice visits Kingfisher Rotary

Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Dustin Rowe was the guest speaker at last Tuesday’s meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Rowe told Rotarians that Oklahoma had an independent Supreme Court appointed by the governor and free of state politics.

Legislators contacted by constituents regarding use of land

The Times & Free Press was told that several landowners in Kingfisher County were in opposition to the appraisals and the subsequent sale by exchange being approved by the Commissioners of the Land Office. ( Note: See related story above.)Some said they contacted their state legislators for help.
