SWOSU announce spring 2021 honor rolls

Honor rolls at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and Sayre have been announced for the 2021 spring semester. An undergraduate student earning all A’s in 12 or more hours during a semester qualifies for the President’s Honor Roll.

KHS choir earns high mark in national festival

Kingfisher High School’s choir in April participated in the WorldStrides Virtual Festival, a national festival with international attendees. More than 150 ensembles participated. Kingfisher’s choir received a Gold 3rd at the festival.

Storm delivers heavy rain, property damage Thursday

Heavy rain and strong winds hit portions of Kingfisher County Thursday afternoon. Property damage occurred in the Dover area, City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis said. There were unconfirmed reports of a tornado in the vicinity of Dover about 3 p.m.

More rain totals

The Mesonet station at the Mueggenborg Farm, west of Kingfisher, recorded 2.21 inches as of Friday morning. Other Mesonet reports for the area included: Guthrie, 4.25 inches; Marshall, 1.48 inches; El Reno .12 inch, Watonga .33 inch; Yukon, .92 inch; Minco, 1.02 inches, and Chickasha 1.34 inches.

Hunter stepping down as State AG

Attorney General Mike Hunter has announced he will be stepping down as Oklahoma’s attorney general effective June 1, citing personal matters. “It has been a distinct and absolute privilege of a lifetime to serve as the state’s attorney general,” Hunter said.
