Dover announces 2nd semester honor rolls

Dover School has announced its junior high and high school honor rolls for the second semester of 2020-21. Students on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll made all A’s while those on the Principal’s Honor Roll made no grade worse than a B.

Deadline nears to register for barn quilt workshop

If you missed Hennessey’s first Barn Quilt Block Workshop you won’t want to miss out on the one this year, said the event’s chairman. The workshop is Saturday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wellness Mercantile on Hennessey’s Main Street.

Elks honor Sanders, more local grads

Emily Sanders became just the sixth person from Kingfisher to be awarded the Elks National Foundation Legacy Award. With the award came a $4,000 scholarship, which she was presented May 4 during the 2021 Kingfisher Elks Lodge Honors Banquet.

Tom’s Book: ‘Smashing the D.C. Monopoly’

[Journal Date: Feb. 7, 2021] Tom Coburn’s book “Smashing the D.C. Monopoly” is many things. In light of his passing in March of 2020 it is his final letter to America. It is a tremendous and well told history lesson of the internal struggle of strong individual states vs. strong central government.

Hennessey PD citations

Hennessey Police Department recently issued the following citations: No Driver License ($365 fine) – Juvenile, Hennessey, Manuel Olivas, Hennessey; Elida Veleazquze, Hennessey. Driving in a Manner Not Reasonable and Proper ($265 fine) – Two Hennessey juveniles.

County Oks payment for 8 bridge inspections

Kingfisher County commissioners approved payment Monday of a $2,025.50 invoice from Circuit Engineering District 8 for eight bridge inspections in Districts 2 and 3. The annual bridge inspections are required by state law to maintain safety of county bridges.

Watch for ‘Blood Moon’ Wednesday morning

Wednesday night’s super moon – the term for when a full moon comes closest to earth’s orbit and appears oversized in the sky – will coincide with a full lunar eclipse. The resulting red appearance is called a blood moon and will be visible about 6:11 a.m. Thursday in central and western Oklahoma.
