Meats, livestock, agronomy, floriculture, and public speaking have been added to the list of events the Dover FFA members have recently competed in. Beginning April 1, students traveled to Wagoner to compete in the Connors State College Interscholastics.

April 16 is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the May 11 special election in Kingfisher, said County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts.

Kingfisher High School seniors Prairie Kaya and Maverick Ridenour have been named the Junior Lions for April 2021. Kaya is the daughter of Kurt Kaya and Shel Wagner. She’s active in Student Council, High School Leadership Conference, the KHS concert and marching bands and academic quiz bowl team.

Voters in Kingfisher County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for the May 11 special election regarding a sales tax in Kingfisher should apply now, Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts said.

The winners for the 25th annual Kingfisher County essay contest hosted by the Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority have been announced. Winners for the eighth grade level were Okarche students Brenna Crider (1st), Kylie Harper (2nd) and Katy Creswell (3rd).

Kingfisher’s board of education will have a short, but busy and productive agenda Thursday when it gathers for a special meeting. Terry Payne oath of office as the board’s new member shortly after the meeting convenes at 5:30 p.m. at the Board of Education office.

Ag in the Classroom recently wrapped up its 2021 Ag Day Poster Contest with over 1,500 students participating.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports: March 30 - Malicious injury/destruction of property. Officer Dillon Chaloupek was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of South Sixth Street in regard to property damage.
