Kingfisher Public Works Authority electric customers who are anticipating extreme sticker shock when February electric bills hit their mailboxes at the end of March will be in for a surprise.

Kingfisher High School is requesting nominations for the 2021 KHS Hall of Fame inductees. Created in 1986 to honor the achievements of past graduates, the hall of fame will induct up to four new members each year, including either KHS graduates or administrators or faculty.

Kingfisher High School seniors Mia Farrell, Zoey Evans and Kase Simon were announced as the Junior Lions for February 2021. The trio attended the civic group’s meeting last week. Farrell is the daughter of Scott and Stephanie Farrell.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following report: February 20 - Public intoxication and bringing or possessing contraband in jail or penal institution. Officer Briston Lowry responded to a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of East Sykes Avenue.

Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan announced that an Oklahoma Centennial Farm Award has been presented to the owners of a farm. Joyce Beck, Gloria Beck, Karri Nickel, Lisa Woolsey and Sonja Loucks own the Myrtle Smith Farm located in the vicinity of Cashion.

The Hennessey Police Department has recently issued the following citations: Possession of Marijuana ($785) - Michael Smith, Enid. Expired Car Tag ($265) & Defective Equipment ($197)- Tara R. Wymore, Hennessey. Careless Driving ($365) - Ervin R. Granillo, Hennessey.

Kingfisher County commissioners Monday declared a disaster in the county resulting from the severe winter storm beginning Feb.

Hennessey Board of Education is expected to hire a new superintendent at a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The agenda includes a proposed executive session followed by a public vote.

Kingfisher Elks Lodge is continuing to use its resources to benefit local students and the elderly during times of need. The lodge recently distributed $3,500 among five school districts and another $2,000 to Kingfisher Meals on Wheels.
