As if the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t provide its share of issues during this basketball season, Mother Nature also had to make her presence felt. The Kingfisher High School basketball teams had to make a number of adjustments to their schedules throughout the season in order to get games in.

Hennessey Assistant Fire Chief James Matousek said they didn’t want to burn down the old day care center behind the town auditorium, but want to use it as a search and rescue facility “We want to set it up as if it was a house,” he told Hennessey Town Trustees before they approved it at their Feb.

The following traffic accident is being investigated by the Kingfisher Police February 5, 8:30 p.m. At South Eighth Street and West Hill Drive. Yazaret Gamez, 19, Hennessey, driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, had parked along the curb of West Hill Drive.

No Kingfisher High School all-school reunion is planned for Memorial Day Weekend, the Class of 1971 announced this week.

Kinggfisher County residents woke up to the coldest temperatures yet Tuesday in the sustained arctic blast, with actual temperatures at minus 12 and some Cimarron Electric Cooperative customers also woke up to surprise rolling blackouts, which started just before 7 a.m.

No estimates of water damages caused by broken water pipes in both the Hennessey elementary and high schools, but "I imagine it will take us a month to get the high school back so we can use it," said Superintendent Dr. Mike Woods in a phone interview.
