Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for January 2020. Selected by the teachers were freshman Avery Davis, sophomore Rylie Farrar, junior Braden Burns and senior Victoria Gerken.

Hennessey graduate Richard Simunek and his late wife, Zorita, have designated $3,156,840 in matching and outright contributions for several projects in their hometown. He told Hennessey school board members about their $500,000 matching endowment for teachers at their Monday, Feb.

Craig Michael, operator of Aero Spraying Service of Kingfisher, was the guest speaker of the Kingfisher Lions Club last week.

The Altrua Club met Jan. 15 at the Chisholm Trail Museum. President Cheryl Wheelbarger conducted the meeting and Dana Golbek served as hostess.

Now that the legislative session is in full swing, House committees and subcommittees are meeting, and our first pieces of legislation are being considered on the House Floor. We have until Feb. 17 to move bills out of an Appropriations & Budget subcommittee and until Feb.

MYSTERY READER - Kingfisher Times & Free Press Managing Editor Michael Swisher was a “Mystery Reader” last Wednesday in Priya Humphries’ second grade classroom at Hennessey Elementary. Swisher read “The Paperboy” to the class and then answered questions.
