SANTA’S TOYLAND, a decades-long Kingfisher County tradition, passed this year from under the umbrella of the Kingfi sher County Department of Human Services to the Kingfisher Community Collaborative, which made the magic happen for 207 children from 70 families.

Kingfisher County property owners had paid $10,167,540.09 in ad valor-em tax by Monday, County Treasurer Robin Rother announced. That is 27.129 percent of the total abstract of $37,422,815 certified for collection.

Sales tax collections were higher across Oklahoma for December and Cashion, Loyal and Okarche joined the municipalities with increases. Although other area towns received smaller checks than last December, three of them – Kingfi sher, Hennessey and Crescent – had larger checks than in November.

Kingfisher County commissioners approved solicitations for bids on a 100-foot radio tower for the sheriff’s department and an election ballot printing contract at their meeting Monday.

Kingfisher Educational Foundation and Kingfi sher Public School fi lled a total of $30,691.04 in special project grant requests from district school teachers. The private foundation funded the bulk of the requests, granting a total of $25,230.98 in grants, while the remaining $5,460.
