Plainview HCE held its monthly meeting Monday, May 13, in the home of Linda Witt. Dana Golbek, president, brought the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Members recited pledges to the American and Oklahoma flags followed by the devotion. Roll call was taken and the minutes were read.

KINGFISHER HERITAGE School recognized third and fourth grade students recently who became “Million Word Readers” during the 2018-19 school year. The students were introduced during an awards assembly last month.

At least once a week, Nancy Hughes drives to her cancer treatment.  Right now, her cancer is under control and she’s holding her own against the disease.   But if it gets to the point where driving herself is no longer an option, she has a backup plan.

Oklahoma Blood Institute will hold a blood drive in Hennessey this week. The drive will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at The Event Center, 600 N. Main St.

More heavy rains arrived in Kingfisher County Wednesday night and Thursday. Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis reported a total of 1.85 inches at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher with .10 inch recorded at 7 a.m. Thursday from the preceding 24-hours and 1.

Kingfisher, Hennessey, Dover and Loyal had larger sales tax checks for May. The Oklahoma Tax Commission, which handles collections of sales tax for cities, towns and counties as well as for the state of Oklahoma, provided the data for the May report.

Timing can be everything and for an Illinois native, timing helped land him one of the most coveted FFA jobs in Oklahoma.

Major changes were made in plans for a new seventh and eighth grade center for Kingfisher during a recent collaborative session. On Monday at its regular June meeting, the Kingfisher Board of Education got its first detailed look at the changes and potential design plans.
