Kingfisher County commissioners opened bids on paving work in all three districts and tabled them Monday at their weekly meeting.Tabling allows County Engineer Nik Smith the opportunity to determine that the bids meet specifications and prepare a recommendation for action at next week’s meeting.

There has been an outpouring of support in recent weeks for the Wheat-belt Ambucs of Kingfisher County’s Playground of Dreams.

Kingfisher Rotary Club has announced the winners of its annual John A. Francis Scholarship. Receiving the scholarship this year are Kaci Pennington and Lacey Wilczek. Pennington is a 2016 graduate of Kingfisher High School and the daughter of Ron and Janet Pennington.

Kingfisher Elks Lodge paid tribute to the families of two members who recently passed away after exemplary service to the lodge. The families were presented with a plaque during the Elks Honors Banquet held May 7. Pictured is the family of Joyce Endres Schutkesting, a member of the Elks and KEWAs.

Chisholm Trail Technology Center recently announced its Students of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2018-19.

Kingfisher Study Club met May 1 for a salad luncheon at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall as Donna Inman and Gerry Plummer served as hostesses. Tables were decorated with fresh flowers and chocolates. Following the luncheon, President Carlene Gooden called the meeting to order.

Kingfisher High School seniors Bree Taylor, Lilia McAlvain, Brenda Jimenez and Sophia Trout were guests last week of the Kingfisher Rotary Club. Taylor is the daughter of Bill and Brooke Taylor. She’s been active in FFA, student council, BPA, FCA, softball and basketball, among others.
