Kingfisher County commissioners met in executive session with the county’s lawyers Monday to discuss Kingfisher Wind’s district court appeal of its 2016 property tax assessment.

A 17-year-old Apache motorcyclist was taken into custody Saturday night after leading Kingfisher County Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase that ended when a patrol car collided with his motorcycle.

It is said that a new program or a new coach needs five years to establish that program and get it up and going. That has certainly not been the case with the Hennessey High School speech and debate team, which was started in 2015 by HHS English teacher and forensics coach Linda Soudek.

Elizabeth Perdue, daughter of Jim and Deb Perdue of Kingfisher, represented Kingfisher County recently at State 4-H Day at the Capitol. She met with Senator Darcy Jech, R-Kingfisher, and spoke to him about 4-H and the impact it has on her and other members.

Tatum Yost, a senior at Lomega High School, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Farm Credit of Enid.  She is the daughter of Kane Leonard Yost of Kingfisher and plans to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Kingfisher County Extension is hosting multiple workshops this month:Arthritis ExerciseThis workshop began May 2, but will also feature classes May 9 and May 16. Lindy Hoel, FCS Extension educator, will guide participants through the exercises according to the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program.

Kingfisher High School seniors Morgan Snowden, Silvia Garcia, Tiffany Crawford and Madeline Loosen were guests at a recent Kingfisher Rotary Club meeting. Snowden is the daughter of Mark and Karen Snowden. She’s active in FCCLA, Business Professionals of America and Mercy Student Careers Council.

Oklahoma Blood Institute is planning a pair of local blood drives in the coming days. The drives are scheduled at:  • Cimarron Electric Cooperative, Tuesday, May 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. • Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sunday, May 19, 8 a.m. to noon.
