Local clean-up projects wanted by Hennessey students, town

The Town of Hennessey and Hennessey mid-high school students will work together again this year on the annual Town Beautification Day. This year’s event is Monday, April 29, said Tiffany Tillman, town administrator, and Stacy Cline, school counselor.

County Extension hosting 6-week walking program

The Kingfisher County Extension is planning a walking program beginning next month to help those affected by arthritis. “Walking with Ease” will begin 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at the MACenter at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds. Those participating will meet twice a week for six weeks.

Motivator, author to headline banquet

Journalist, media personality, entrepreneur and author Ray Sanders will be the keynote speaker for the 80th annual Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce Banquet Saturday, Feb. 9. The child of an unwed teenage mother, Sanders has been a lifelong survivor.

Waiting for the Green Light

The Cheyenne-Arapaho tribal legislature voted Tuesday to purchase a 2.5 acre tract at 400 S. Ninth St.in Kingfisher for $225,000 to construct a community wellness center.

89th spring stock show on horizon

The 89th annual Kingfisher County Spring Livestock Show will be held Feb. 16-18 at the county fairgrounds in Kingfisher. The annual bidders feed and premium auction will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Exhibit Building at the fairgrounds, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Midship project sailing on

Cheniere Energy Inc. which plans a $1 billion Midship Pipeline, got started on the project last week when county commissioners approved permits for 27 road crossings in the county. Cheniere has obtained approval for the project from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
