No charges had been filed as of press time Friday against a 24-year-old Edmond woman who led a Kingfisher County sheriff’s deputy on a high-speed chase that ended in a fiery crash last Tuesday.

The Cochlear Corporation of America has announced that Katie Soudek of Kingfisher, a 2017 honor graduate and valedictorian of Hennessey High School, is one of three national winners of the 2019 Anders Tjellstrom Scholarship.

Cimarron Electric CEO Mark Snowden said his estimation was that 2018 would probably be the highpoint for oilfield drilling and related activity in Kingfisher County, if crude prices stay in the neighborhood of the $52 per barrel mark.

Kingfisher High School has named its Students of the Month for December 2018. Selected by the teachers were freshman Slade Snodgrass, sophomore Prairie Kaya, junior Emma Barnett and senior Lane Dobrovolny. Slade is the son of Mark and Angie Snodgrass.

Breakfast is the topic at the next OSU Cooperative Extension educational meeting to be held Wednesday, Jan. 23. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the Kingfisher County Extension Office. Quick and easy breakfast ideas, recipes and tips will be shared with those attending.

- BancFirst in Kingfisher hosted Dollar Dog Days the afternoon of every home football game once again in 2018. The bank donates the money collected throughout the season to Kingfisher Public Schools. BancFirst raised $1,200 during the 2018 campaign.

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, Jan. 28, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by a review presentation by Dennis Mueggenborg, which will include some little-known facts about the city of Kingfisher. The meeting is open to the public.

More than 270 students at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma were recently named to the university’s two honor rolls for the fall 2018 trimester.   Among those named was Lee Racer of Kingfisher.   The USAO honor roll recognizes students whose GPA is 3.
