HHS girls stay in winner’s bracket

Hennessey guaranteed its spot in the area tournament with another home win on Tuesday.The Lady Eagles shut down Holland Hall in the fourth quarter to earn a 4137 victory in their Class 3A regional semifinal at the Eagle Event Center.

3 Wildcat lifters qualify for state meet

Three Cashion High School powerlifters will compete against the rest of the best in the state this week.Junior Makayla Hines, sophomore Khloe Kastner and freshman Brynn Geisinger have qualified for the Oklahoma Girls Powerlifting Coaches Association state meet.

Cashion teams reach regional title games

About the only thing better than Cashion’s defense in the first half was its defense in the second half.Combined, the two halves saw the Lady Wildcats hammer Cordell 5422 Tuesday in a Class 2A regional semifinal in Watonga.

Roof raises her game; Lady Jackets win big

A quick start helped Kingfisher cruise into a Class 4A girls regional championship game.Ela Hartman and Reese Roof combined for six firsthalf 3-pointers as the Lady Jackets doubled up Cleveland, then rode that lead to a 53-37 victory in a Class 4A girls regional semifinal in Cushing.

Jackets pull away from Purple Pirates

Kingfisher is back in the regional championship game for a second straight year.The 10th-ranked Jackets dominated the second half Tuesday to pull away from Bristow 69-44 in a 4A regional semifinal in Cushing.The road gets tougher for KHS now as it takes on No. 4 North Rock Creek at 7:30 p.m.

Dover, Lomega teams out at area

Henryetta was not kind to county teams on the first day of the Class B-II area tournament.Both the Dover girls and Lomega boys saw their seasons come to an end with losses there on Thursday in the consolation quarterfi nals.The Lady Longhorns were downed 41-33 by Coleman in an afternoon game.

Lomega cruises into area final

Kevin Lewallen’s last day as a 45-year-old was spent coaching Lomega to another championship.This one was a regional title as the No. 1 Lady Raiders dominated Dover 93-33 Saturday in a Class B-II matchup in Dover.

Lady Eagle defense puts Casady in spin cycle

Hennessey didn’t score much Friday night in its Class 3A district championship... but the Lady Eagles didn’t need to.The 11th-ranked Lady Eagles downed Casady 36-10 in the Eagle Event Center to begin their playoff quest.Casady managed just four field goals - one in each quarter.
