Crooked Oak ends boys’ soccer season

The Kingfisher boys soccer season came to a halt Tuesday.The Jackets were dealt a 5-1 loss at Crooked Oak in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.Crooked Oak (11-5) moved into the quarterfinal round against Mount St. Mary, which finished second in District 3A-2, the one from which KHS emerged.

Medals in all four brackets helped Kingfisher High School boys tennis capture a team championship.The Yellowjackets won No. 2 doubles, had two runner-up finishes and a thirdplace win en route to taking home the team title from the Clinton Route 66 Tennis Tournament on April 28.

Washington runs 2 gold; Mecklenburg injured in HJ win

First the good news.Kingfisher High School’s Braxton Mecklenburg continued his streak of winning the high jump at every meet this season.Mecklenburg won the event Saturday at the Class 4A regional track and field meet at Chisholm High School.

Arapaho-Butler was able to defeat the Cashion boys golf team at their Class 2A golf regional qualifier.The Wildcats didn’t let history repeat itself in the regional tournament.Cashion claimed the boys regional title by 13 strokes Monday at Falconhead Golf Course in Burneyville.

Katon Lunsford locked up a spot in the Class 4A state track and field meet early on in the day at last Saturday’s regional.Then came the disappointments.The Kingfisher High School senior took fourth in the 800 meter run and later was fifth in the mile on the track at Chisholm High School.

Taylor leads Crescent contingent into state

Kinidi Taylor continued her dominance in the long jump and showed off her speed in leading Crescent to a fourth-place finish.Taylor is the defending 2A state champ in the long jump and has the best jump in the state this year - regardless of class - at 19 feet, 3 inches.
