One day after signing a college scholarship, Lauren Lamb went out and showcased her value.A senior at Cashion High School, Lamb last Friday signed to compete in track and field for Oklahoma Baptist University.

Kingfisher and Cashion advanced to regional baseball tournaments with home playoff sweeps on Thursday.Cashion, ranked sixth in Class 2A, took care of Merritt 10-0 and 10-3 in a best-of-three district tournament.That puts the Wildcats into a regional tournament this week, one they’ll likely host.

Track regional assignments listed

The OSSAA last week announced assignments for this weekend’s track and field regionals.Kingfisher and Hennessey will take part in their respective regionals Saturday at Chisholm High School.Cashion, Crescent and Lomega will make the trek northwest to Cherokee High School for their meets.

Baseball playoffs begin this week for Classes 2A, 3A, 4A

Multiple county schools will host baseball districts and bi-district tournaments this week.In Class 4A, Kingfisher will play host to Madill in a best-of-three series beginning Thursday at 4 p.m.A second game will be played at 6 p.m. and the teams will meet up, if necessary, Friday.

Cashion boys 2nd in 2A golf qualifier

Cashion’s boys golf team advanced to next week’s regional with a runner-up finish Monday at the Class 2A qualifier at Kingfisher Golf Course.Meanwhile, Hennessey and Crescent also had individual golfers advance, but missed out on reaching the regional as full squads.

Braxton Mecklenburg is a conference champ for the first time in his career.The Kingfisher High School senior won the high jump with his clearance of 6-4 last Friday at the Western Athletic Conference Track & Field Meet in Elgin.

KHS girls 4th at loaded WAC meet

The 2022 Western Athletic Conference Track & Field Meet was a veritable “meet of champions” on the girls side.It featured the 2021 Class 4A state champion (Weatherford) and runner-up (Tuttle) as well as two other teams (Bethany and Kingfisher) that finished among the top eight.
