The Kingfisher High School girls got a dramatic win, a convincing win and a closer-than-it-looked defeat last week as the end of their soccer season nears.The week ended on “senior night” Thursday as the Lady Jackets were defeated 5-2 by Mount St. Mary.

All six full teams and six more individuals advanced beyond the Class 2A girls golf regional qualifier held Tuesday at Kingfisher Golf Course.Among the teams advancing was Okarche, which shot a 525, as well as two individuals from Cashion.

Tristun Burnham became Kingfisher’s first conference champion in boys golf.Burnham fired a 2-overpar 74 Wednesday to claim medalist honors at the Western Athletic Conference Boys Golf Tournament at Blanchard’s Winter Creek Golf & Country Club.

Two Kingfisher High School track and field athletes had already made their college scholarship signings official. On Tuesday, they got to be celebrated. Braxton Mecklenburg and Ally Stephenson held a joint ceremony at the Kingfisher APB in front of family members, coaches, teammates and friends.

Kingfisher erased an early deficit, battled the wind and secured a playoff spot all in one night.Senior Alan Muñoz scored two goals and assisted on another as the Jackets beat Alva 4-1 at home Tuesday in a District 3A-2 boys soccer game.

Kingfisher freshman Raegan Snider earned all-conference golf honors Monday. Snider shot a 98 at Winter Creek Golf Course in Blanchard to tie for seventh in the Western Athletic Conference Girls Golf Tournament. The top-10 golfers earn all-conference.

Braxton Mecklenburg is one of the best high jumpers in the state.He’s now officially the best to ever do it in his own home.The Kingfisher High School senior set a new personal record last Friday in winning the high jump at the Chisholm Track & Field Invitational.

Most people had Good Friday last week.Ally Stephenson had a great one.Two more Kingfisher High School records will now have her name next to them after her standout performance at the Chisholm Track & Field Invitational.

Kingfisher on Monday got what it hopes is the first of two trips to Boiling Springs Golf Course.The Yellowjackets’ golf team took second place in the Woodward High School Boys Golf Invitational.KHS shot a 354 to finish four strokes behind the host school.

Dover and Okarche will host baseball district tournaments this week.The OSSAA announced district assignments recently for Classes A and B.Dover was tabbed as a host site and will be joined by Okeene and Verden.Also in Class B, Lomega will travel to Lookeba-Sickles.
