Jackets complete Boomer sweep

Kingfisher gave up 19 runs to Woodward over two days.And still both wins.The Jackets rode the strength of a seven-run third inning Tuesday to complete the home-and-home District 4A-4 baseball sweep with a 12-10 victory at Homier Field.

Aniessa Edsall made the Kingfisher girls soccer team run during the offseason when the temperatures were in the 30s.She made them practice even when the winds were howling well over 30 miles per hour.Practicing and preparing in those brutal conditions – especially the latter – paid off Tuesday.

The Three River Conference Most Valuable Player honor for 2022 went to players that helped lead their teams to regular season and tournament titles.After a vote of coaches, it was announced this year’s winners were Okarche’s Emma Stover and Cashion’s Austin Frazier.

Back-to-back wins on Saturday locked up the consolation championship for the Kingfisher girls at the Oklahoma Christian School Saints Invitational soccer tournament.The Lady Jackets bounced back from an opening loss to the host school to grab wins over Bristow and Atoka, both by a 2-1 score.

Jackets hold on at Woodward to stay undefeated in district

James Perdue came on in relief Monday to shut the door on Woodward and keep Kingfisher’s unbeaten district record intact.Perdue picked up the save with 1 1/3 innings of work as the Jackets beat the Boomers 10-9 in a District 4A-4 road game.The victory pushed KHS to a 5-0 mark in the district.

The annual Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State games are going to feature three players from Kingfisher County this year.Kingfisher’s Rayland Garner and Allison Green as well as Lomega’s Hensley Eaton were announced last week as all-state selections.
