Hennessey continued to battle the quarantine bug but the Lady Eagles did sneak in a win before the latest interruption. A dominant stretch in the middle two quarters Friday allowed them to run away from visiting Oklahoma Bible Academy 48-29 on homecoming night.

Dover rally not quite enough against C-D

Dover’s comeback attempt came up short Saturday and it saw the Lady Longhorns’ win streak come to an end. Covington-Douglas held off the Lady Longhorns late to preserve the 4641 road win. The Lady Wildcats got up 12 points by the end of the first quarter.

Lady Jackets drop 3rd straight game

Continued scoring woes led to a third straight loss for the Kingfisher girls basketball team. The Lady Jackets had just 10 first-half points and couldn’t overcome a double-digit deficit in a 34-33 loss last Friday at Clinton.

Kingfisher, Cashion playing host to tournaments as part of busy week

The last big tournament week of the basketball season will see two county teams host their own events. The Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational returns to Kingfisher and the Cashion County Line Tournament will be taking place at the same time. Both tournaments run Thursday-Saturday.

Clinton’s task of knocking off top-ranked Kingfisher was grand enough as it was. The fact the Red Tornadoes were missing two starters and another key contributor made it a nearly impossible one. KHS, meanwhile, was fully loaded in its 79-30 conference win inside the Tornado Dome on Friday.

Kingfisher had three wrestlers reach the championship round, but couldn’t quite pull off individual gold at last weekend’s Western Conference Tournament.

Injury bug biting Okarche teams

Okarche got back one of its injured players, but won’t see the return of another. Logan Kroener scored 27 points in his return to the Warrior lineup Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Watonga in a 58-50 loss on Okarche’s senior night.

Cashion squads have productive weekend

Based on scores and amount of time played each night, Cashion’s weekend went from toughest to easiest. But there was nothing easy about it. The Wildcats wrapped up their third win in as many nights Saturday when they thwarted Class A No. 17 Thomas, 66-55 at home.

Longhorns thump Geary

Dover’s boys got back on the winning track and evened their season record in one night. The Longhorns played the fifth game in a week and fourth in five days, but had no trouble disposing of Geary in a 64-27 road win on Monday.

Hennessey, Watonga split TRC games

A third-quarter surge Tuesday helped Hennessey stave off upset-minded Watonga. The Eagles overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to pull off a 47-41 Three Rivers Conference home win. Watonga held its host to three second-quarter points and led 23-15.
