OSSAA releases assignments for baseball, softball

The OSSAA recently announced district assignments for fall baseball and the two smallest classes in fastpitch softball. District tournaments can begin this week and must be completed by Saturday, Sept. 26, in both sports.

Another disappointing district loss befell the Kingfisher softball team, but this time in dramatic fashion. With her team trailing, Blackwell’s Raegan Moore slapped a two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Lady Maroons past KHS, 2-1.

Kingfisher’s seventh grade football team grabbed its first win of the season last Thursday. The Jackets pitched a shutout on the road to beat Perry 20-0. The Jhett Birdwell to Jackson Willbanks connection proved to be a valuable one for the Jackets.

Newcastle tops KHS 2-0 in 4A-1 duel

Kingfisher’s softball team went toe-to-toe with one of the state’s best Monday before coming up just short. Newcastle plated a pair of unearned runs in the fourth inning to earn a 2-0 victory over the visiting Lady Jackets in a District 4A-1 contest.

Kamas wins 2nd OJGT fall event

Maddi Kamas caught fire down the stretch to turn the Battle for Broken Arrow into a battle for second place. The Kingfisher High School senior birdied three of her final four holes at The Club at Indian Springs Sunday to win the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour Event.

HORNS MANHANDLED

The Kingfisher coaching staff had a lot more of them at their disposal than Chisholm last Friday night. The result was a 45-8 home victory for the Jackets in their final non-district game.
