It wasn’t exactly the way Dylan Blundell planned it, but the Dover baseball coach isn’t going to turn down a district championship. The Longhorns swept Cimarron 13-1 and 14-4 Thursday at home to earn a Class B district title and advance to this week’s regional.

It had been nearly two full years since the Hennessey football team had experienced victory on the field. That drought ended last Friday when the Eagles sent Crooked Oak back to Oklahoma City with a 33-7 defeat.

Cashion’s Lynn Shackelford faced a big decision on the very first play of the fourth quarter. His team faced a 4th-and-goal from the opponent’s 2-yard-line. A touchdown meant a two-score lead over visiting Thomas. A field goal would have still been worth a 10-point advantage.

Kingfisher, Bethany split JH contests

Kingfisher’s eighth graders improved to 2-1 and the seventh grade squad just missed out on an unlikely comeback win in junior high football action last Monday. The eighth grade Jackets dominated Bethany 28-0 in the nightcap in Kingfisher.
