JH squads earn split at Perkins

Two fourth-quarter touchdowns helped the Kingfisher seventh grade football team knock off Perkins-Tryon 23-16 on the road last Tuesday. With the game tied at 8-8 since the first quarter, KMS made its move in the fourth.

Cashion searches for Week 6 football foe

Cashion finds itself in need of a football opponent this week. The Wildcats were set to travel to Hinton on Friday, Oct. 9, for a District A-3 game. However, Hinton has been forced to cancel or postpone the game in order to quarantine due to COVID-19. The Comets also canceled their Oct.

Players, coaches earn conference honors

The Kingfisher softball team racked up a number of honors in the Tri-County Conference this season. The Lady Jackets earned the conference championship with their 5-1 record, which included a 4-3 victory over conference kingpin Chisholm last week.

Lady Jackets hosting softball bi-district

McLoud won just one district softball game all season long. Boy did it benefit Kingfisher. The Lady Jackets will get to stay home for a Class 4A bi-district series on Saturday (Oct. 3). They’ll host Bridge Creek in a best-of-three series beginning at 2 p.m.

Junior high squads sweep McGuinness

The junior high football teams last week picked up their first sweep of the season. The seventh graders knocked of McGuinness 26-22 last Thursday while the eighth graders followed it up with a 41-0 blowout of the Irish, both at home.

Dover heads east for Class B baseball regional

Dover learned its playoff fate for its Class B baseball regional and a road trip is in order this week. The Longhorns will take part in a four-team regional at Varnum beginning Thursday. The Longhorns will play the fourth-ranked host team in the opening game at 2 p.m. Friday.

KHS tops Enid in final regular season game

Although playoff destinations weren’t totally decided, the Kingfisher softball team still wasn’t done winning this week. The Lady Jackets capped their regular season Monday with a 5-1 win at Enid.

KHS hosting Clinton Friday

Just before - and even during - Kingfisher’s game with Bridge Creek last week, KHS coaches and Athletic Director Jay Wood were actively searching for an opponent this week. It turns out that foe will be Clinton, which visits the Jackets at 7 p.m. Friday for Kingfisher’s homecoming.
