Dover season ends in regional

Dover’s bid to return to the state baseball tournament was ended on Friday. The Longhorns were eliminated from their Class B regional with an 8-3 loss to Moss at Varnum. Their season ended with a 12-12 mark just one season after winning only three games.

Tiger streak ends against Tonkawa

Crescent had been perfect in one-score games this season. Until Saturday, that is. Tonkawa put an end to that streak with a 21-20 victory at Crescent. The visiting Bucs scored with 30 seconds left in the first half and got a twopoint run by Tristen Burdick to go up 21-20.

KHS girls win 4th XC meet

Chalk up another win for the Kingfisher girls cross country team. The Lady Jackets were dominant last Saturday in the Watonga Cross Country Invitational as they won for the fourth time in five meets. The Lady Jackets carded just 48 points to beat the host Lady Eagles by 24 points.

An overmatched Oklahoma Christian Academy squad took an aggressive game plan into last week’s showdown at Cashion. “They played press man on the outside and blitzed us,” said Cashion coach Lynn Shackelford. In one respect, it worked. Cashion only took 20 offensive snaps and turned it over twice.

Clinton overpowers Jackets, 21-10

Turnovers and a physical foe proved too much for Kingfisher to overcome. The Yellowjackets were handed their second loss of the season last Friday as they surrendered 328 rushing yards and three turnovers in a 21-10 setback to visiting Clinton on homecoming night.

Bridge Creek spoils KHS regional bid

Kingfisher’s monumental softball season was put to a disappointing halt early Saturday evening. Bridge Creek staved off elimination with back-toback wins over the Lady Jackets to win a best-of-three bi-district series in Kingfisher.

Kingfisher County 4-H members competed in the West District Trap Contest held on Oct. 3 in Enid. One of the county’s senior teams took second place. Team members included, from left, Katie Brickman, James Perdue and Reid Witt of Kingfisher, and Jake Henrichs of Okarche.

KHS FOOTBALL HOMECOMING

Seniors Maricza Lopez and T.J. Parker were named the 2020-21 Kingfisher High School homecoming queen and captain during ceremonies prior to last week’s football game. The coronation was held prior to the Yellowjackets’ 21-10 loss to Clinton.
