No golf season? No problem

Colby Campbell had a goal entering his senior season of golf. He wanted to add to Kingfisher High School’s rich tradition as its latest golfer to earn All-State status. A huge kink was put in those plans when the OSSAA voted in April to cancel the entire spring sports season.

KYLE FAHLENKAMP

I was really looking forward to track this year and running one last time with my track team. Since my football season got cut short due to an injury, I was really confident in the place I was at knowing that we were going to have a good team this year.

I was very excited for this year’s season, therefore, I was extremely disappointed when it was canceled. I had been consistently throwing the discus in practice past my last year’s record, which made me excited as I faced this coming season.

I was very disappointed I would not get the chance to have “my last...” My last time to bat or run out on to the field with my teammates; my last time to cheer on my other teammates when they were up to bat; my last time to be in a huddle with my teammates; my mom yelling from the stands.

Cortes, Stone grab more honors

The list of postseason honors grew even longer last weekend for two Kingfisher High School juniors. The Tulsa World newspaper announced its allstate basketball teams. It gives the honor to 15 boys and 15 girls regardless of age and classification.

Woody, McDowell are OCA All-State

Kingfisher County will have a pair of representatives at the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s All-State basketball games this year. Rachel McDowell of Okarche and Jacob Woody of Cashion earned the distinction of being OCA All-State picks when the group announced its selections last week.
