Twice as nice for Wildcats

Cashion needed more than 15 years to win its fi rst Three Rivers Conference Tournament championship in the boys bracket. It took the Wildcats just one year to win their second.

Better in Raider blue

When Lomega was bested in the 2018 Warrior Classic championship game, there was a freshman who came off the bench to nail four 3-pointers and score all 15 of her points in the second half to lift Hammon to the title. That freshman’s name was Adysen Wilson.

GROWING PAINS

All the phases of growth for a young basketball team were on display last Saturday night. Undefeated Alva laid claim to its third Wheat Capital Tournament championship in six years with a 63-52 victory over Kingfi sher in the girls championship game at Chisholm High School.

It’s sometimes tough to find motivation in a 10:30 a.m. basketball game against an opponent that - on paper, at least - is inferior. That’s exactly the position the Kingfi sher Lady Jackets found themselves in Thursday at Chisholm’s Wheat Capital Tournament.

Fairview no match for KHS at Wheat Capital

Kingfisher had a three-headed monster Thursday night that spelled doom for Fairview. The Yellowjackets’ varsity squad made its return to the Wheat Capital Tournament and opened play with a 90-45 victory against Fairview at Chisholm High School.

Lomega squads, Dover boys advance to semis

Lomega moved into the semifinals of both brackets at the Warriors Classic in Hammon. The Lady Raiders downed Southwest Covenant 82-49 and played Hammon Friday in the semifinals in a rematch of the last two championship games of that tournament. Hammon won both of those matchups.
