KHS freshmen stun Felt in OT

The Kingfisher boys freshman basketball team offered up some dramatics and a mild surprise Thursday in the opening round of the Ward Center Classic in Seiling.

Perdue, Hine are Junior Lions

Kingfisher High School seniors Elizabeth Perdue and Wes Hine have been named the Junior Lions for January 2020. The honor is presented by the Kingfisher Lions Club. Perdue is the daughter of Jim and Debra Perdue.

During his senior year of high school, Wyatt Carter was on a mission during the fi nal day of the Buckle of the Wheatbelt Tournament. His hometown Okarche girls basketball team was taking on Piedmont in the 2013 tournament championship at the APB.

KHS boys cruise past Cache, 70-34

Cache came into Kingfisher last Friday night with a double-digit win over No. 7 Anadarko under its belt. But it also came into the game without its best scoring threat, Mason Cox, who moved to Velma-Alma over the break. The former was just enough to get No. 1 Kingfisher’s attention.

For much of three quarters, it appeared as if the Kingfisher girls basketball team would cruise to its third straight win. While the fourth quarter proved to have a few speed bumps, the Lady Jackets did, in fact, hold on for a 44-42 win over Cache in their return to action last Friday at the APB.

A Lomega home game against a winless Med-ford squad generally isn’t enough to move the needle. However, the Lady Raiders’ return from the Christmas holiday last Friday had some signifi cance: It also marked the return of junior forward Emma Duffy.

Cashion basketball brings home pair of wins from Stroud

Cedar Stewart made her debut and Cashion won its third straight game Saturday afternoon in a matinee performance at Stroud. Stewart, a 5-foot-6 senior guard who moved to Cash-ion just before the Christmas break, scored seven points as Cashion defeated the Lady Tigers 55-51.

Basketball tournaments are abundant this week
