Lady Jackets end losing streak

Kingfisher snapped a five-game losing skid Thursday with a 10-0 victory at Okarche. The win pumped the Lady Jackets’ record to 10-9 as the regular season hits its final three-week stretch.

Tigers run past Woodland

There may very well be times Crescent’s inexperienced football team struggles mightily this season. The season opener just wasn’t one of them. The Tigers got 2019 off to a solid start last Friday with a 37-14 victory at Woodland.

For the first time in the program’s history, the Kingfisher High School girls cross country team opened a season as a reigning state champion. That came last Saturday when the Lady Jackets finished fourth at the Watonga Cross Country Invitational.

Coaches pull positives from 2nd scrimmage

The final tune-up for the Kingfisher football team is in the books. The Jackets traveled to Clinton Thursday for a scrimmage against the Red Tornadoes and Alva. “We did some good things and still have some things to correct,” head coach Jeff Myers said of the outing.

Despite setbacks, KHS in good shape

Despite a pair of district losses last week, Kingfisher’s softball team remains in solid position to garner a playoff spot. The Lady Jackets dropped a 9-2 home bout with Cushing on Monday and then were shutout 8-0 by Newcastle on the road Thursday.

Bigger tests ahead for KHS football

Things went mostly as expected when Kingfisher and Casady hooked up last Friday for the first football scrimmage of the year. “I’d say that’s about right,” head coach Jeff Myers said of the annual trip to Oklahoma City to take on the private-schooled Cyclones.
