Loren Ballard and Taylor Mills combined for 9 RBIs in the first game of a double-header Tuesday to lead Kingfisher to a district softball sweep at Bethany. Ballardhadfourextra-base hits and Mills slapped an inside-the-park grand slam as part of a 13-8 victory in the opening contest.

JEFF MYERS, left, Kingfisher High School football coach for the past 15 years, was the guest speaker of the Kingfisher Rotary Club last Tuesday. Myers said he currently had 53 ninth through 12th graders out for football this preseason and he was excited to begin the 2019 campaign.

Everything looked good through five innings of Kingfisher softball’s 2019 season opener. Unfortunately, the last two innings caught up to the Lady Jackets in a 9-3 home loss to McLoud Monday night. It was also the District 4A-1 opener for both teams.

A Kingfisher softball team brought home a state championship this summer. The Lady Jackets were winners of the 2019 Babe Ruth League State Softball Tournament in the 6-under t-ball division.

The longest drought in 16 years for Heath Myers in the Kingfisher Golf Association club championship is over. Myers reclaimed ownership of the title he’s mostly dominated since 2004 with back-to-back bogey-free rounds Saturday and Sunday at Kingfisher Golf Course.

During his tenure as Kingfisher High School girls basketball coach, one of the additions Jay Wood made to the locker room was a wall with all of the Lady Jackets who have earned All-State in that sport.

Jett Sternberger is going to play football. Stone Snodgrass is going to wrestle. Trey Green gets to play basketball. Well, sort of anyway. The Oklahoma Coaches Association will host its annual All-State games this week in the Tulsa area in conjunction with its coaches’ clinic.

The Kingfisher Blue Sox spent most of their season shelling a former Oklahoma State pitcher. It almost got them a state championship. Atoka defeated the Blue Sox 10-0 Saturday in the decisive game of a best-of-three series to claim the OK Kids coach pitch state championship at Clinton.
