Kingfisher’s Kamas named top OKC-area golfer

Maddi Kamas didn’t get the team or individual state championships she was gunning for during her golf season, so consolation prizes will have to make due for now. A big one came last week. The Kingfisher High School sophomore was named the All-City Player of the Year for girls golf.

CASHION QB LAMB SIGNS WITH CENTRE COLLEGE

Griffin Lamb carried on Cashion’s tradition of excellent quarterback play on the football field. Off the field, he recently carried on the tradition of moving on to the next level. Griffin, seated center, recently signed to play for Centre College in Danville, Ky.

Burns gets his official notice of All-State bid

The Oklahoma Coaches Association last week made official what Peyton Burns had already locked up on the course. Burns’ name was on the list last week when the OCA announced the 2019 All-State golf teams.

Kingfisher’s success on the baseball diamond has helped result in two players being named All-State selections for the first time in the program’s history.

Collier, Stephenson golden at ‘Champions’

Kingfisher County athletes brought home three gold medals Tuesday from the final track and field meet of the season. Hennessey’s Madison Collier won both throwing events and Kingfisher’s Ally Stephenson the high jump at the Meet of Champions held at Moore High School.

Baseball postponed

Kingfisher had to wait 10 years between trips to the state baseball tournament. Then it was forced to wait another day. The Class 4A tournament was postponed from its original start date - Thursday - due to unplayable conditions at Edmond Santa Fe.

BLUE SOX WIN

The Kingfisher Blue Sox 8-under coach-pitch team recently went 4-0 and won the tournament championship at Briscoe Park.

ESU names Nault Student-Athlete of the Year for 2019

School record holders and All-Americans were honored during the inaugural Corky’s - A Student-Athlete Celebration recently at Emporia State University. More than 90 Hornet senior student-athletes and support staff were recognized for their contributions to ESU and the Hornet athletic program.
