Jacket golfers take 5th at state

One stroke short. That was the hard-luck theme for Kingfisher golf this postseason. Earlier, it was Maddi Kamas, who fell one stroke shy of forcing a playoff for the 4A girls individual title.

Golfers in 5th entering final state round

Two-thirds of the way through the Class 3A boys state golf tournament, Kingfisher found itself sitting in fifth place. The Jackets shot rounds of 326 and 319 Monday at Tulsa Country Club for a 645 total. That left them well back of the leaders, but only four strokes out of fourth place.

Hennessey High School sophomore Madison Collier not only made herself a repeat champion last weekend, she set a record in the process. Collier won the Class 3A discus event at the state track and field championships held in Catoosa for the second straight year.
