Kingfisher got over one threshold in its first game Thursday. It cleared another in the second. Now the Jackets need just one win in two tries to leap over yet another, which would be the biggest of them all.

University of Arkansas junior and Kingfisher High School alumnus Mason Overstreet was voted the SEC Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the league’s head coaches. Overstreet owns a 3.

Lady Jackets close strong for 4th place finish

Things looked bleak for the Kingfisher High School girls golf team after the first day of the Class 4A state tournament. Luckily for the Lady Jackets, unlike last year, there was a second day.

KHS soccer, Cashion baseball seasons end over the weekend

SPRING PLAYOFFS Kingfisher High School’s soccer teams saw their seasons come to an end in the playoffs last week. The KHS boys traveled to Madill Thursday night and were defeated 3-1. It was just the second playoff appearance in the program’s history.

RSU honors Vaughn Raney

Rogers State Athletics celebrated the 2018-19 academic and athletic year last week with its fourth annual Outstanding Moments in Athletics (OMAs) Award Show.  Among those honored was Cashion alumnus Vaughn Raney, left. He was named to the athletic department’s All-Academic team.

KHS golfers making return trip to 3A state tournament

Although the team didn’t close as strong as its coach would have liked, Kingfisher did more than enough a majority of Monday’s rounds to get back to state. Kingfisher fired rounds of 312 and 310 at the 3A boys golf regional at Purcell’s Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course.

Mecklenburg, Stephenson, York jump to regional gold

Ally Stephenson is a regional champ and Madeline Loosen is a state qualifier in four events after last Saturday’s Class 4A track and field regional in Chisholm. Stephenson continued to excel in the high jump as she won the event after clearing 5-foot-2, which no other competitor could do.

TENNIS DUO FIFTH AT REGIONAL

Kingfisher’s Taylor Watkins, left, and Mia Farrell just missed out on the state tennis tournament. The Lady Jacket duo placed fifth in No. 2 doubles in the 4A regional at Earlywine Tennis Center in Oklahoma City.
