Cashion claims 4th straight regional

The defending Class 2A champs are now four-time regional champs. Cashion’s girls bested the field in Stroud last Saturday to win a 2A track and field regional championship for the fourth consecutive year. The Lady Wildcats scored 110 points.

Third-Round Pick

The large crowd that gathered suddenly realized the person they were there to celebrate had disappeared. That’s because Jace Sternberger got the call he’d been waiting for. That call was from the Green Bay Packers, who were about to make his dream come true.

Correction

When Kingfisher senior Colton York set the new school record in the long jump on April 19, he broke the one set by Lamont Gunnings in 1991. As correct math would indicate, that’s 28 years ago, not 18 as was previously reported.

KHS 10th out of 41 teams at Bluejay Bash

Kingfisher got its final prep for its upcoming 36-hole regional when it took part in Guthrie’s Bluejay Bash Thursday at Lake Hefner Golf Club in Oklahoma City. The Yellowjackets shot a combined 617 on the North and South courses to place 10th out of 42 teams on hand.

Goodwin, Covalt deliver, but KHS dealt loss

Zach Goodwin led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run and had another productive day of offense, but it wasn’t enough to lift Kingfisher to a win on Senior Night. Weatherford scored five runs in the final two innings Thursday to knock off the Jackets 7-3 at Homier Field.

Cashion offense explodes; needs 3 wins to advance

Cashion scored 32 runs in its first two games at its Class A baseball regional, but still finds itself on the brink of elimination. The ninth-ranked Wildcats were sent to the consolation bracket after Thursday night’s 18-16 loss to No. 8 Canute in a winner’s bracket game.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONS

Nerves were already at an all-time high for Alexis Stitt. And then Wednesday happened. “I wasn’t hitting the ball very well in practice and it really upset me because I know I can do better than that,” said the Kingfisher High School junior golfer. Why so anxious?

York leaps into record book

As soon as Colton York’s foot left the ground, he knew it was going to be a good jump. He just didn’t know it was going to be THAT good. The Kingfisher High School senior not only set a new long jump personal record in his final home track meet, but broke the school record in the process.

KHS 2nd in 3A golf qualifier

Only four golfers failed to move on from Monday’s Class 3A regional qualifier held at Kingfisher Golf Course. Fortunately, nobody with the name “Kingfisher” attached to it was among that group.
