Freshman Isaac Long provided the lone highlight for Kingfisher’s wrestling team Tuesday in a home dual with No. 1 Perry. Long was trailing the Maroons’ Logan Smith in the third period of their 126-pound match before he managed to pin him at 5:02.

Snodgrass 3rd, Jackets 6th at Hub City

Stone Snodgrass hauled home a bronze medal to highlight Kingfisher’s trip to the Hub City Classic. The KHS senior took third place at 132 pounds in Clinton High School’s annual wrestling tournament inside its Tornado Dome. He helped the Jackets to a sixth-place finish in the team standings.

The 17th annual Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational had an anti-climactic finish, but it was no less sweeter for the Kingfisher boys basketball team. The Yellowjackets won their own tournament for the third straight year by throttling Weatherford 72-35 Saturday at the APB.

Okarche sweeps Coyle crowns

Okarche’s played in three tournaments this season and lost just one game. That came in the semifinals of the Three Rivers Conference gathering earlier this month when Crescent dealt the Lady Warriors a 50-45 defeat.

Late heroics doom KHS girls upset bid at Tuttle
