There were no individual medalists.There was no team trip to the podium due to race results.But there was hardware earned.The Kingfisher High School girls cross country team slipped to eighth place Saturday in the Class 4A state meet held at North Rock Creek in Shawnee.

Nine Kingfisher High School softball players were recognized last week when the all-district team was announced for 4A-3.Six players were named to the first team and three more earned honorable mention.

Eagles’ hot streak continues with 21-8 victory over Luther

A playoff spot in hand, Hennessey now is marching to a potential home game for the postseason.The Eagles took another step in that direction Thursday night with a 21-8 home win over Luther.Levi Ferrell accounted for all three touchdowns as the Eagles won their sixth straight.

Bobcats thumped; Cougars up next

Kingfisher’sgameagainst Star Spencer last Friday can be summed up in the final play of the first half.The Yellowjackets were poised to take a 35-0 lead into the break, but the Bobcats called a timeout with 6 seconds left in an attempt to end the half with some form of positivity.

State Cross Country Schedule

Three girls teams and multiple individuals have qualifi ed for this weekend’s state cross country meets.State is being held Saturday on the campus of North Rock Creek High School in northeast Shawnee.

Hennessey, Lomega girls teams run back to state

There was one surprise in the Class 2A girls cross country regional at Oklahoma Bible Academy.Fourth-ranked Regent Prep ran to the regional crown, knocking off No. 1 Hooker, which was the runner-up with 36.What wasn’t a surprise was Hennessey being among the automatic qualifiers.

Rivalry trophy stays in Cashion

The War on 74 trophy is staying with Cashion.The Wildcats bounced back from their first loss of the season to throttle visiting Crescent 42-13 on Thursday night.It’s Cashion’s second straight year to win the rivalry game after dropping it to the Tigers in 2023.
