Tigers surge last

In a game of ups and downs for both teams, Tuttle got the last up.The Tigers outscored Kingfisher 10-5 in the fourth quarter to keep a 54-46 victory Tuesday night on their home floor.Both teams had major runs in the game, allowing both to take what seemed to be commanding leads.

Ellie Dombeck grabbed an offensive rebound and powered in a putback to tie the game at 12-all at the 5:40 mark of the second quarter.“That’s the type of game I wanted it to be,” said Tuttle coach Jamie Combs, whose ninth-ranked Lady Tigers hosted No. 4 Kingfisher Tuesday in a big Class 4A showdown.

Cashion Bucs close-game trend

It would stand to reason that Cashion would be a bit sluggish in the championship game of the NextEra Energy Resources Invitational at Garber.After all, the Wildcats went three overtimes the night before in escaping Ripley in a 65-63 thriller.

No Okarche letdown in Leedey this year

One of Okarche’s four hiccups last season came at the South Canadian Classic in Leedey.There was no hiccup this season.Jett Mueggenborg was named tournament MVP as he led the Warriors to three days of domination and the championship.

A late flurry of 3’s wasn’t enough to help Hennessey catch up.The Eagles were dealt a 64-48 loss by Canute in Saturday’s championship game of the Washita State Bank Classic Invitational at Burns Flat-Dill City.The defeat snapped a three-game win streak by the Eagles.
