Karen Sue (Johniken) Hall of Kingfisher has devoted her life to serving others.On Saturday scores of people — local and a number from out-of-town—who benefitted from Mrs. Hall’s service honored her at an appreciation luncheon at Kingfisher’s First Baptist Church.

Kingfisher city commissioners last Monday did offer the position of city manager to Jonah Humes (see story on Page 1), but also worked their way through a heavy agenda at their August regular meeting.

The Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office has received a grant that will allow for extra DUI and seatbelt enforcement.Undersheriff Ed Cangiano reported to the county commissioners at their weekly meeting last Monday that the $17,500 grant was from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office.

Cashion, Okarche and Dover saw gains in their August sales tax checks, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission’s monthly report.The tax commission collects and distributes city and county sales tax along with its collections for the state.

Kingfisher has its next city manager.The city commission voted Monday night after an executive session to name Jonah Humes as the next person to take over the position.Commissioner Kyle Mecklenburg made the motion after commissioners interviewed Humes for more than an hour in the closed session.
