Commissioners hope to act quickly in finding Kingfi sher’s next city manager.The plan, according to Mayor Geoff Covalt, is to be ready to make an offer to a candidate by the commission’s August meeting.“We want to move as quickly as possible to ensure that,” Covalt told the KT&FP on Thursday.

Certified staff at Kingfisher Public Schools will see a $2,000 pay raise in 2026-27. That measure was mandated last month when the legislature passed - and the governor signed - a bill requiring a minimum $2,000 pay increase for teachers at all levels.

It was bad.It could have been much worse.Storms blew threw Kingfisher County - and much of the rest of northwestern Oklahoma - early Monday morning.They brought with them needed rain, but also damaging winds and even tornado warnings.

The financial situation for Kingfisher Public Schools remains fragile, but also is forging through a rebuilding process that wasn’t unexpected, said Superintendent Andy Evans.
