Theta Tau members cook up new officers for 2026-27 year

Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met on Monday, May 18, at the home of Cynthia Eaton and hosted by the Social Committee.The members dined Mexican dishes (taco, tortillas and sides).Afterwards they also had decorated confetti cake and punch.

Robbye Jones of Kingfi sher was honored last Wednesday evening by the Oklahoma Bankers Association with his induction into the 50-Year Club. The honor is bestowed upon those who have dedicated 50 or more years of service to the Oklahoma banking industry.

Road and bridge work for county produces 39 bidders

Kingfisher County commissioners opened 39 bids from companies seeking road and bridge material and commercial roadway work Monday at their weekly meeting.Action was tabled until next week’s meeting to allow tabulation of bids lowest to highest.

Sharp, Harrison inducted into KHS Hall of Fame

The Kingfisher High School Hall of Fame grew to 111 members last Saturday.Inducted during the Class of 2026’s graduation ceremony were Steve Sharp from the Class of 1982 and Jared Harrison from the Class of 1999.

Clifton Shepherd proudly dons the cap that signifies he is a Vietnam veteran.That hasn’t always been the case.“We weren’t appreciated when we came back. I’ll guarantee you that,” said Clifton, now 76 years old - nearly 77 - and living with his wife Rhonda in Okarche.

More improvements coming

Will Rogers Drive won’t be the only major project beginning in Kingfisher on Tuesday.The City of Kingfisher announced Wednesday of a sidewalk improvement project set to begin on three streets on the opposite end of the city.
ODOT CREWS started placing cones and preliminary signage last week along three city streets that will be the focus of a sidewalk improvement project. Work begins Tuesday and is expected to take 60 to 90 days. [KT&FP Staff Photo]

As always, Memory Lane volunteers will provide their assistance from the gazebo that’s located just east of the Kingfisher Cemetery entrance throughout the holiday weekend.Volunteers will be on hand at the gazebo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well as 9 a.m.
