Statue cleanup suggested

Kingfisher resident Bert Gangl suggests a cleanup of the Farmer Statue at the county courthouse.He says some of the bricks have rusted.Acme makes a solution especially for bricks, he adds.He thinks it would be nice if it can be completed before the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Wheat plot tour is this Thursday

Kingfisher County OSU Extension Director/Agricultural Educator Bryan Kennedy has announced a county wheat plot tour on Thursday.The event will begin with a breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building.The wheat tours will follow.

County has quick meeting

Kingfisher County commissioners approved a pipeline county road crossing for Ovintiv and a change order on 2025 chip and seal contract, both in District 2, in a brief meeting Monday.

Local book club meets Monday

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, May 18, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave., in Kingfisher.Linda McDonald will be discussing her book “Belle Starr: Tough Trip Through Paradise.”Lunch will be catered at 11:30 a.m. and is $15 per person.

National Poppy Day offers chance to support fallen warriors

The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is offering the opportunity to honor fallen warriors and contribute to the continuing needs of veterans on or before National Poppy Day.That day falls Friday, May 22, and is when Kingfi sher’s ALA members will distribute red poppies in exchange for a donation.

Record turnout for Pioneer

A record crowd gathered Tuesday at Pioneer Telephone Cooperative’s 73rd annual meeting.Some 1,500 people registered for the meeting held at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building, far exceeding the previous record as well as the 650 needed to establish a quorum for the business meeting.

Board sets another special meeting Monday

Kingfisher Board of Education members will meet for the fourth time in just over two weeks as a special meeting has been called for this Monday, May 11.The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. at the Administration Office.
