Kingfisher County Election Board Secretary Shawna Fulks reminds would-be voters that July 31 is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the Aug. 25 primary runoff.

The Kingfisher Lions Club hosted the annual turtle races during the July 4 celebration at Homier Field in Kingfisher Park last Saturday.

Kingfisher acquired a new symbol on Sunday, July 4, as the statue of a typical farmer, sculpted by Tasso Pitsiri of Enid, was unveiled and a Bicentennial Memorial Bell Tower Monument dedicated on the courthouse grounds.

Baseball and softball games were played Wednesday afternoon as part of the Fourth of July activities at Oklahoma Park. In a seven-inning junior baseball game, Kingfisher defeated Marshall 8-4. In a five-inning adult softball game, the all-stars defeated J.C. Penney 8-3.

All Iva Petty wants for her birthday is to ride a horse.Never mind she’ll be 105 years young when her birthday rolls around Monday; she still wants that horse ride.“I don’t have a saddle or a bridal or my riding clothes, but I’d sure like to ride,” she said from Cimarron Nursing Center.

You wouldn’t have had to tell Kingfisher County folks it was July the Fourth Wednesday. The temperature hit a high of 101 degrees.After a north front cooled down temperatures to a “mild” 93 on Thursday, the south wind returned Friday and the temperature shot up to 102 Friday afternoon.
