OKARCHE’S Easton Roby delivers a pitch during Monday’s win.

Not even a lightning delay could deter Easton Roby.

The Okarche senior was absolutely dominant on the mound Monday as the Warriors defeated Canute 2-0 in the season opener and a showdown of a pair of Class A’s top teams.

Canute won the Class A-II state championship last spring while Okarche is coming off A-I semifinal appearances.

But the Trojans had no answer for Roby as he allowed just one hit - a two-out triple in the top of the third inning - and struck out 10 batters over six innings of work.

Luke Hill grabbed the save with a hitless seventh inning in which he struck out two.

Neither Okarche pitcher walked a batter.

Roby got his necessary run support in the bottom of the first when Jett Mueggenborg’s double brought home Brett Carnott.

Both Mueggenborg and Carnott delivered two-out hits.

Soon after, a lightning delay was called as both teams headed to the dugout for the necessary amount of time.

Once they headed back out, it was more of the same.

Roby retired the Trojans in order in the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

He helped his own cause with an RBI single in the third.

That hit scored Lane Rother from second. Rother had led off the inning with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Luke Hill.

Nate Bryant took the loss for Canute despite six strong innings.

He allowed just five hits and struck out six batters without a walk.
