XC teams learn regional assignments
Most county schools will have relatively short distances to travel for their cross country regionals this weekend.
The lone exception is Lomega, which heads to Waurika.
Regionals will be competed across the state this Saturday in Classes A, 2A, 3A and 4A. The state meet for those classes will be Saturday, Oct. 25, at North Rock Creek High School in Shawnee.
Two county schools will be in Oklahoma City at the regional hosted by Heritage Hall.
Kingfisher will compete in 4A and Cashion in 2A.
The KHS boys will run at 11 a.m. and the girls at 11:45 a.m.
The 2A races are at 1 p.m. for the boys and 1:45 p.m. for the girls.
Joining Kingfisher in 4A are Astec Charter, Berryhill, Bethany, Bridge Creek, Bristow, Community Christian, Cushing, Harding Charter, Harrah, Heritage Hall, Holland Hall, Mannford, McLain, Oologah, Perkins-Tryon, Seminole and Woodward.
In Class 4A, the top six teams will advance to state as well as the top seven individuals from non-qualifying teams.
KHS is the second-highest ranked girls team in the regional at No. 4.
Bridge Creek is ranked third.
Those rankings on ohstrack.com are as of Oct. 6. Kingfisher out-dueled Bridge Creek in a meet held at Heritage Hall on Oct. 9.
KHS was second with 55 points at the meet while Bridge Creek was fifth with 133.
Bethany is ranked ninth in 4A while Mannford is 11th and Perkins 12th.
Lomega’s girls are ranked fourth in Class A.
They will run at 9 a.m. and the boys at 9:45 a.m.
The Lady Raiders are the second highest-ranked team in the regional behind No. 3 Thomas.
In Class A and 2A, the top five teams advance to state and then the top 12 individuals from non-qualifying teams. Both Dover and Hennessey runners will travel to Enid for their respective regionals at Oklahoma Bible Academy.
Dover is in Class A and Hennessey in 2A.
The A girls run at 9 a.m. and A boys at 9:45.
The 2A girls run at 1 p.m. and the boys at 1:45.
Hennessey’s girls are ranked sixth in Class 2A.
Their regional also consists of No. 2 Hooker and No. 3 Regent Prep.
