Thomas Alan Duran, 41, of Kingfisher, passed away in the line of duty on Oct. 24, 2025.
He was born on March 2, 1984, in Moore to Gerald and Marilyn Duran.
A 2002 graduate of Bethany High School, Thomas lived a life defined by faith, service and strength.
For 14 years, Thomas proudly served with the El Reno Police Department, where he earned the rank of sergeant.
His dedication and courage were recognized through multiple honors, including being named Officer of the Year twice and receiving the Medal of Valor.
Thomas served as a defense tactics instructor, field training officer and mentor to many. He was known for his humor, integrity and steadfast leadership.
Thomas was a devoted husband to Kirsten (Gilbert) Duran and a proud, loving father to Elliott, Kambrie, Piper and Elijah.
He is also survived by his brother James Duran and wife Wendy, their children Abigail and Colin, as well as several half-siblings, including Jimmy Shirley, and cousins Michael, Matthew and Mark.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Thomas found joy and strength in the gym and lived out his calling as a self-proclaimed “street pastor.” His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding him to live boldly by the words, “Saved, Not Soft.”
Thomas inspired all who knew him through his compassion, resilience and unwavering love for his family, friends and community.
Memorial donations may be made to Limitless 405 Church, 1221 Ridgecrest Dr., Kingfisher, OK 73750.
Officer Duran’s patrol car will be at the service if you would like to bring flowers or memorial items to place on it in his honor.
Flowers will be donated to local nursing homes after the service.
Visitation for Police Offi cers, EMS, and Firefighters will be held at Sanders Funeral Service from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1.
Credentials must be provided for entry.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Together We Church, 620 North Cemetery Road, Yukon, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
