Katie Parham grabbed MVP honors as Okarche brought home its biggest win of the season and a championship trophy.

Thejuniorguardpoured in 30 points Saturday as the Lady Warriors held off Class A’s fifth-ranked Cheyenne/Reydon 49-47 in the championship game of the South Canadian Classic in Leedey.

It was Okarche’s second win over a team ranked in the top-five of its class in as many nights.

The Lady Warriors dealt B-II’s third-ranked Leedey a 47-39 defeat in Friday’s semifinals.

Parham scored 15 to lead Okarche to that victory.

The Lady Warriors were up 14-7 after a quarter and led by eight entering the fourth.

The team went 12 of 16 from the free throw line in the game, led by Parham making all six of her attempts.

Logan White scored 12 points and Ally Baustert added 9.

Against Cheyenne, it was the second quarter that saw Okarche grab some breathing room.

It outscored the Lady Bears 12-6 to nab a 24-16 halftime lead.

Cheyenne chipped away at it in the second half, but couldn’t close it.

Okarche was 16 of 25 from the free throw line in the game.

Parham went 11 of 18. White scored 9 points while Callie Cramer added 6.

Those two joined Parham on the all-tournament team. Cramer scored 22 points Thursday in Okarche’s 6341 victory over Turpin to open the tournament.

She was joined in double figures by White, who scored 16.

Okarche entered the tournament ranked No. 7 in Class A.

The Lady Warriors go into this week with a 6-2 record.

Warriors Repeat

Okarche dominated the field to bring home its second straight South Canadian Classic championship.

The Warriors beat three foes by an average of 54 points in the repeat performance at Leedey, culminating Saturday with an 83-53 victory over previously unbeaten Vici.

The Indians were ranked No. 2 in B-II and are coached by former longtime Hennessey assistant Jeff Terrell.

They were within eight points of the unbeaten Warriors after a quarter, but the infamous Okarche barrage put the game away in the second.

The Warriors outscored Vici 31-12 in the quarter on the strength of seven 3-pointers.

Four of them left the hands of Court Sumrall, who made five total in the first half to account for all 15 of his points off the bench.

Ethan Kirby made two treys and scored eight in the quarter while Easton Roby added the other trey as part of his nine points in the frame.

Kirby eventually went 6 of 14 from long range and scored a team-high 20 points.

Roby poured in 19 and also grabbed 14 rebounds.

Both were on the all-tournament team.

The MVP honors went to Jett Mueggenborg, who heated up in the fourth quarter for 11 of his 18 points.

He joined Roby in recording a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Mueggenborg scored 29 points in Friday’s 99-45 victory over Class B-II’s 13th-ranked Leedey.

The senior also had 10 rebounds in that contest.

Roby knocked down 25 points.

Kirby put on a shooting clinic in Okarche’s 35-point second quarter.

The senior went 6 of 7 from 3-point range in the quarter. He made seven treys in the game and scored 23.

Okarche scored 45 points in the first quarter alone during Thursday’s 99-21 route of Lookeba-Sickles.

Sumrall made six of the Warriors’ 13 3-pointers and scored 18.

Mueggenborg chipped in 17 while Kirby scored 10 and Roby 9.

Okarche was 8-0 after the tournament and remained ranked No. 1 in Class A.
