Deer Creek-Lamont’s shooting prowess was on display last Friday against Lomega.

The Eagles made 11 3-pointers in their 64-44 win at home in a showdown between the top two seeds in this week’s Cherokee Strip Conference Tournament.

DCLA is the No. 1 seed and looked the part as it methodically pulled away.

After staking a 31-21 halftime lead, the Eagles went on a 28-12 run in the third.

That included six 3-pointers in those eight minutes.

Four of those left the hand of Brice Bledsoe, the sharp-shooting guard who made 11 3-pointers and scored 47 points in a single half earlier this year against Cherokee.

Bledsoe “only” had six treys and scored 22 points against the Raiders.

His teammate Will Muegge added four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 24. He made three of his long-range shots in the first quarter.

The Raiders made three 3-pointers of their own in that opening frame.

Two of those came from Noah Lentz, who made three overall for all of his 9 points.

Jaxson Snowden scored all 10 of his points in the first half while Lance Yost came alive for 9 of his teamhigh 12 in the second half.

Lomega, ranked 18th in Class B-II, dropped to 10-6 on the season.

DCLA, ranked fourth in the class, moved to 16-1.

Lady Raiders can shoot, too

While the DCLA boys had an impressive shooting performance in the nightcap, it still didn’t match the Lomega girls.

B-II’s top-ranked team nailed 14 3-pointers in the girls game as part of their 83-29 blowout win.

Lomega made six 3-pointers in the first quarter as it blitzed its way to a 32-9 lead.

Senior Hadley Ott was responsible for three of those.

She added one more in the second and another in the third to account for all 15 of her points.

Jenny Penaran had two of the first-quarter treys and three overall and scored 9.

Five other Lady Raiders made one, including Reagan Snowden.

Her’s also came in the first quarter.

She poured in 11 in the quarter and 27 in the game.

The Lady Raiders improved their season mark to 15-1 with their third straight win.
