George ‘Ben’ Pickle

George Bennett “Ben” Pickle passed away Aug. 22, 2019, in Kingfisher. Ben was born June 20, 1965, to Bill and Marilyn Pickle. Ben grew up on the family farm northwest of Dover and attended Dover Public School from kindergarten through 12th grade.

John Sain, Sr.

John Parmlee Sain, Sr. was born in Kingfisher, the “Buckle of the Wheat Belt,” Aug. 9, 1933. His parents, Jay Wright Sain and Helen Bethune (Wallace) Sain, raised John and his siblings, Francis, Richard, Mary Jo and Jeanette, on a cattle and dairy farm that became the heart and soul of the family.

Samuel ‘Sam’ Yost

Our beloved dad, Samuel (Sam) John Yost, passed away peacefully from this earth on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, lovingly surrounded by his children. He was born to Robert and Ruth Williams Yost on May 15, 1951, in Kingfisher. Sam was one of six children and grew up on the family farm in Omega.

Cleola ‘Punky’ Maxwell

Cleola “Punky” Maxwell went to her Lord and Savior Aug. 9, 2019, at age 84. She was born Sept. 3, 1934, to Rufus and Emma Vilhauer of Loyal. She was raised on the family farm and on May 25, 1952, she married Alfred Maxwell, her high school sweetheart.

Ray West

In Loving Memory  Coach Ray West passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019. True to his “Warrior” spirit, Coach West fought cancer with the same tenacity with which he approached life.

Lelen ‘Leon’ Terrell

Lelen Leon Terrell of Yukon passed away after a courageous battle with prostate cancer on Aug. 11, 2019, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Dover Christian Church with Rev. Matt Barrie officiating.

Dr. Theodore Henry Fortmann

Theodore Henry Fortmann, 85, left this earth peacefully to return home on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019. Ted was born in Oklahoma City on July 16, 1934, to Anton and Annisa Fortmann. In 1955, Ted met the love of his life, Sally Scott, and they were married for 55 years.

Tommy ‘Tom’ McCormick

Tommy (Tom) E. Mc-Cormick of Midland, Texas, 65, passed away July 30, 2019. He was born Oct. 22, 1953, in Amarillo, Texas, son of Gerald and Barbara McCormick. Tom spent much of his childhood in both Kingfisher and Hennessey.

Suzanne Choate

Celebration of life services for Suzanne Marie Choate, 67, Hennessey, were Monday, Aug. 5, at First Baptist Church officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Service arrangements were by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Leonard Hollar Jr.

Leonard Ralph Hollar, Jr., 71, passed away Aug. 15, 2017, at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center Shreveport, La. He was born Aug. 4, 1946, in Enid to Leonard Ralph and Dora Margaret Moss Hollar. In 1954 the family moved from Covington to Kingfisher.
