Bison down Dover in Class B quarters
A disastrous top of the fourth inning proved too much for Dover to overcome.
The Longhorns gave up five hits and committed two costly errors in that frame as Leedey turned a two-run deficit into 7-3 lead.
The fourth-ranked Bison eventually rode that momentum to an 11-6 victory over the No. 5 Longhorns in a Class A state baseball quarterfinal at Prague High School.
The loss saw Dover’s season end with a 24-6 record.
After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, Dover had control of the game for several frames.
It started with Casen Buck’s leadoff double in the bottom of the first and the junior eventually scored on Trypp Lack’s single.
Two batters later, Ivan Ruiz made it 2-1 with his double.
Lack kept the Bison bats quiet and got some extra support in the third.
Brennan Fletcher doubled and moved to third before being pushed by a Ruiz sacrifice fly.
Dover took that 3-1 lead into the fourth…and that’s when things fell apart.
