Hennessey’s Matousek, Cashion’s Baustert top county runners at OBA

County runners Boys Dover

Julianne Matousek was among the best in a full field at last Saturday’s Oklahoma Bible Academy Cross Country Invitational in Enid.

The Hennessey sophomore placed fifth out of 111 runners on the two-mile course and helped her team to a ninth-place finish.

Matousek ran the race in 12:27.9 and notched four points for the team.

She was tops among county runners in the race.

Cashion’s Hattie Wood also medaled as she was 13th in 12:55.8.

Medals went to the top 20 finishers in each race.

Gracie Sawyer led Lomega’s charge as she placed 34th overall, but 24th among scoring runners.

Claire Myers was two spots behind her. Those two finished in 14:11.6 and 14:14.6, respectively.

Lomega finished eighth as a team with 181 points.

Hennessey notched 199. Laverne won the meet with 51 points while Balko-Forgan was second with 77.

On the boys’ side, Dover placed fifth in the team standings despite being without Bly Frieouf and Reid Frieouf, who were taking part in the prestigious Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Arkansas.

The five who did compete in Enid all ran PRs, according to backup assistant JV coach Jared Reese.

The Dover contingent was led by Brady Reese and Nick Spradlin, both of whom medaled.

Reese was 15th overall and 12th among scoring runners with a time of 18:13.5.

Spradlin was 18th and scored 13 points with his time of 18:21.3.

The top runner among county athletes was Cashion’s Cole Baustert.

The senior placed 10th out of 126 runners and ran the 5K course in 17:57.2.

Lomega’s Hunter Russell placed 31st overall to lead the Raiders. He accounted for 21 team points and ran the race in 19:04.2.

Lomega was ninth as a team with 211 points.

In the junior high races, Dover’s Hunter Spradlin was the runner-up out of 124 competitors.

He completed the 3,200 meter course in 11:08.3.

Medaling for the girls was Hennessey’s Quinn Ward, who was 12th out of 106 runners with her time of 10:18.6 on the 2,500 m course.
