Mattie Slezickey and Lily Lunsford took home medals and led Kingfisher High School to a fourth place finish Saturday at the Watonga Cross Country Meet.

Slezickey placed fourth and Lunsford 23rd out of 84 runners on the 2,500 meter course.

Slezickey finished in 9:58.21 and has improved her placing at each of Kingfi sher’s three meets. The senior was third among runners scoring points for their teams.

Lunsford finished in 10:50.02. Also a senior, she was 16th among scoring runners.

Freshman Kellyn Young finished one spot out of the medals. She placed 31st overall in 11:16.52 and was 22nd among scoring runners.

Also scoring for KHS were Hinsley Brodrick, who was 34th (24th) in 11:30.77 and Ryann Farrar, who placed 40th (25th) in 11:57.04.

Kingfisher notched 90 points as a team.

Hooker won the team title with 28 and Weatherford was second with 69. Watonga took third with 73 points.

Cashion had just one runner in the high school girls race, but she went home with hardware.

Freshman Hattie Wood placed eighth as she finished the course in 10:15.45.

Kirtley paces KJH girls

Kingfisher’s junior high girls placed eighth overall.

The group was led by sixth grader Natalie Kirtley, who placed 11th out of 128 competitors.

Junior high girls ran 1,735 meters and Kirtley finished her run in 7:11.28.

Olyvia Cooper was 23rd to also earn a medal.

Also scoring for KMS were Patyn Kroener, who was 42nd; Emily Mosely, who was 53rd; and Maitlyn Tollefson, who placed 83rd.
