Dover, Lomega teams out at area

Henryetta was not kind to county teams on the first day of the Class B-II area tournament.Both the Dover girls and Lomega boys saw their seasons come to an end with losses there on Thursday in the consolation quarterfi nals.The Lady Longhorns were downed 41-33 by Coleman in an afternoon game.

Lomega cruises into area final

Kevin Lewallen’s last day as a 45-year-old was spent coaching Lomega to another championship.This one was a regional title as the No. 1 Lady Raiders dominated Dover 93-33 Saturday in a Class B-II matchup in Dover.

Lady Eagle defense puts Casady in spin cycle

Hennessey didn’t score much Friday night in its Class 3A district championship... but the Lady Eagles didn’t need to.The 11th-ranked Lady Eagles downed Casady 36-10 in the Eagle Event Center to begin their playoff quest.Casady managed just four field goals - one in each quarter.

Okarche boys roll past A-B, 90-33

The top-ranked team in Class A will very likely be tested in the playoffs.It just hasn’t happened yet.The latest blowout victim was No. 17 Arapaho- Butler, which was demolished 90-33 in a regional championship Saturday in Okarche.

Longhorns are regional champions

Dover’s trademark swarming defense has the Longhorns within one win of another trip to the state tournament.The Longhorns held Cimarron to one field goal in the first half and turned it into a 55-28 victory in their Class B-II regional championship clash in Dover.

Raiders claim 2consolation victories

After letting a big lead slip away to open its regional, Lomega didn’t let history repeat itself.The Raiders garnered first half leads on Mulhall- Orlando and Carney over the weekend and now find themselves back in the area tournament.

Myers reaches 1,000 in fifinal home game

In the last game she’ll ever play in her home gym, Abbie Myers made her final bucket a big one.It didn’t win a game for Kingfisher as the Lady Jackets cruised to a 54-19 victory against Cushing in a Class 4A district championship game on Saturday.

Jackets shrug off slow start for district title

If there was any urgency in the Kingfisher boys basketball team, it didn’t show up early on Saturday.It did, however, show up in plenty of time as the Jackets recovered to beat Cushing 67-51 in a Class 4A district championship.
